Tansy is built local-first. Your skin profile, your logs, your photos and everything Tansy works out about your skin live on your device. There are no accounts, and we do not sell data.
The one exception is analysis: to read a photo, we have to send it somewhere that can read it. A photo you scan is sent for that single analysis and then discarded. It is never stored by us, never used to train anything, and never shared. Details below.
Your check-in photos are stored on your device. They are viewable only by you inside the app, and you can delete any of them individually at any time. Deleting the app deletes all of them.
To analyse a check-in, the photo is sent to our server and then to an AI vision service. That is the only time it leaves your device. It is used for that one analysis, it is not stored on our servers afterwards, it is never used to train any model, and it is never sold, shared, or shown to anyone. What comes back is a set of observations: how red, how shiny, how even your skin looked, region by region. Those observations are stored on your device, not ours.
To measure change accurately, a check-in also sends your previous check-in photo alongside the new one, so the analysis compares you to yourself rather than to an average. The same rules apply to both: transient, for that analysis only, never stored, never used for training.
An earlier version of this policy said face photos were never uploaded, and promised this page would be updated before any version that transmitted one shipped. This is that update, and it is being published before that version ships.
Your answers, scans, meals, diary entries, and check-in observations are stored on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you give us and use it for one thing: telling you when Tansy launches. The form is processed by our form provider on our behalf. We do not share the list with anyone else, and you can leave it any time by emailing us.
Tansy does not collect analytics. There is no tracking library, no advertising identifier, and no usage data leaving your device. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before the version that changes it ships.
If product recommendations ever include retailer links, they may be affiliate links, which pay us a commission at no cost to you. Grades and recommendations are computed from the ingredient rubric alone and are never influenced by commissions. A product cannot buy its grade.
Tansy is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
